Participants are taken on a journey to explore and creatively express feelings of emotion and sensations in the body. Through the process of bodymapping, 3D drawing and movement, they are invited to reveal their unique inner reality and then observe the creations of others. VR "Impulse" is a groundbreaking MR experience that playfully explores what it means to live with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). We start amongst the inner workings of the brain as we learn about how we process and make sense of the world. Next, we meet four characters whose stories and environments spill out into the room around us in breath-taking MR. We discover the different ways in which ADHD can affect people as we follow their real-life testimony, told in their own words. Reflecting on our own interactions as well as diverse life stories and perspectives, we experience the complexity of ADHD and consider how systems around us could change to make space for us all.

SXSW 2024 - XR Experience Competition "Madame Pirate: Code of Conduct" is a 6DOF room-scale VR experience. The story is told mixing comic strip format and live action 4DView. It is an immersive voyage of discovery in the world of 19th Century Chinese pirates. The housing market in South Korea is tight, and animator Sunghwan Lee moves from one semi-basement to another temporary home. This situation, combined with his difficult childhood, got him thinking. What is a home? What makes a house a home? In colorful animations, he explores the concept through his memories of his father’s childhood home, a 300-year-old traditional Korean residential complex that has been declared a cultural heritage site. This safe place is a vehicle for the countless memories of many people. When extended reality artist Ben Joseph Andrews suffers an attack of vestibular migraine, he loses his sense of orientation, balance and spatial awareness. It also affects his experience of reality, where everything familiar suddenly seems new and different—a neurological phenomenon called “jamais vu”. Andrews lets you experience this sensation of jamais vu yourself with a VR headset. This distorts your reality into a black world with objects outlined in white. Sitting at a table, Andrews guides you with his voice through a series of actions with everyday objects, which suddenly feel awkward and clumsy—something as simple as leafing through a book feels strange. How does this experience affect your image of your environment, of the material world, of yourself? It is the story of a woman, who wasn't given the chance to know the man behind her father, now obscured by this illness. As she tries to piece together what remains of his language, she discovers that his relationship to words is connected to his memories. The memories of an entire lifetime... Step by step, clue after clue, we will dive alongside her into the inner world of this man, in an attempt to decipher the story he can no longer tell us. In a monochrome aesthetic, close to traditional animation, this personal story is told as a journey with surreal overtones, offering to explore aphasia as a distant country. EMPEROR is a poetic experience of the loss of one's faculties, of the passing of time, and of the bonds which, through it all, remain.
