Gilles Jobin and his digital dance company created La comédie virtuelle, the digital model of la comédie, a real theatre being built in Geneva. La comédie virtuelle is a multi user social experience accessible in VR and with desktops computers. Just like a real theatre, audience, represented as avatars, can gather together to visit the building, talk to each other, interact and assist to performances in real time. After its inauguration La comédie virtuelle will function as an active XR hub for research and production for the regular digital program of la comédie in Geneva. For the Venice Biennale, Gilles Jobin and his digital dance company present a live performance in real time everyday of the festival.

VR_I is a dance piece by Cie Gilles Jobin and Artanim. Five spectators with VR headsets move inside a virtual space for a contemplative journey that questions our perception of reality. Blending art with technology, VR_I results from the encounter between Jobin and Artanim’s founders Caecilia Charbonnier and Sylvain Chagué. For the first time ever, a choreographer combines dance with immersive vr in a work that provides viewers with a unique sensory experience. The international cast features American composer Carla Scaletti, Belgian fashion designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard and dancers Victoria Chiu, Susana Panadés Diaz, Diya Naidu, Tidiani N’Diaye and Gilles Jobin.

When the opportunity arises, Little Miss Fate slips into the role of the world leader. Unintentionally she creates a monster, which greedily wants to suck up all the love of the world. Overwhelmed by the rapid development, she loses control.

Mankind has landed on the Moon and flies around in space. But under our feet there are about a million kilometres of cave systems – only one per cent of which has been explored. The film accompanies experienced cave explorer and mountaineer Lea Odermatt on her tours beneath the surface of the earth, in claustrophobic passageways and gigantic caverns.

Cie Gilles Jobin (Dance Trail, 2020 Sundance Film Festival) returns to Sundance with this stunning showcase of biodigital live dance performance. Inviting audiences on a mesmerizing journey through cities and sidereal space, Cosmogony elevates the craft of dance choreography as the troupe — using the company’s groundbreaking networked motion capture technology — integrates their movement to power avatars through morphing digital 3D environments in real time. The dancers’ gestures are captured live in their studio in Geneva and simultaneously projected for audiences in both physical and digital venues. Both virtual and in-person audiences are invited to attend Q&As with the members of Cie Gilles Jobin following each performance.
