The Spice Girls are an English pop girl group formed in 1994. The group comprises Melanie Brown, also known as Mel B, Melanie Chisholm, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham née Adams. In 1996, Top of the Pops magazine gave each member of the group aliases, which were adopted by the group and media.

Spiceworld is the second studio album by English girl group the Spice Girls, released on 1 November 1997 by Virgin Records as the follow-up to their debut album Spice (1996). Its music incorporates dance-pop music and production. The album became a huge hit worldwide, lengthening the so-called "Spicemania" of the time. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, with first-week sales of 190,000 and shipped 1.4 million copies in two weeks. The album also reached number one in 13 countries, while peaking inside the top three in Australia, Canada, France, Switzerland and the United States. Spiceworld has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

Forever is the third and final studio album by English girl group the Spice Girls, released on 1 November 2000 by Virgin Records. It is their only album without Geri Halliwell, who later rejoined the group for their Greatest Hits album in 2007. Despite failing to match the commercial success of the group's two previous albums, Forever peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Worldwide, the album has sold over four million copies. The double A-side "Holler" and "Let Love Lead the Way", which peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart, was released to promote the album. The single "Goodbye", released almost two years earlier, was also included on the album.

After much speculation and rumour the Spice Girls announced their reunion tour and Greatest Hits album to the world's media this summer. Fifty five million records sold, an astonishing 9 UK no. 1 singles, three back-to-back Christmas no. 1 singles and with 'Wannabe' the biggest selling single ever by an all female group, the Spice Girls have very little to prove. The band are never out of the media spotlight, the British tabloids and women's magazines adore them and the British public can't get enough. 3.5 million people worldwide have registered for tour tickets, 1 million of those were from the UK.
