"Big Guts" Cheung, a man well known in his local village for his lack of fear, is put to the test after being tricked into spending the night in a temple full of spirits, zombies, and vampires.

Sammo and Kenny are lowly employees if a jewelry shop. Sammo too often is the target of abuse from the manageress. One day the two are sent to show the diamonds to a sheik. They are robbed on their way to the bank. One by one they are being accused to be in collusion with the robbers. That makes Sammo very angry. To get even, he plans to kidnap the manageress. Kenny somehow learns of the plot. Sammo gets the wrong woman, accidentally kidnapping Joel.

Little Tiger ventures from the sticks to the big city in search of his cop brother Big Tiger, an honest cop working in a corrupt system. Surmising that life in the police force was not his cup of tea, Little Tiger joins the Swallow Acrobatic Troop, which he excels in because of his kung-fu prowess. When a band of thugs from Chin Hung-yun's group attacks the troop, Little Tiger not only handily fights them back but also infiltrates their organization to destroy them from the inside. Meanwhile, Big Tiger's old flame Mary returns from America to join the revolutionaries. Big Tiger soon finds himself torn between his love of this girl and his orders to arrest all revolutionaries.

“小飞象”陈初（洪金宝 饰）自幼习武，身手矫健，在打劫了一家财务公司获得了巨款之后，他决心金盆洗手，回归平静的生活。“猫头鹰”黄人富（林子祥 饰）谙熟处世之道，头脑精明聪慧，设计骗得了黑心商人欧根非法获得的赃款之后亦决定洗心革面，不再出山。
一晃眼三年过去，远离江湖的陈初开起了健身馆，生意经营得风生水起，而黄人富亦依靠之前积累的财富，过着衣食无忧的生活。一封不期而至的神秘信件彻底打破了两人闲适的生活，信中揭露了他们不为人知的的过去，并以此要挟他们重出江湖，否则就要将信件的内容公之于众。无奈之下，陈初和黄人富只能再度联手，和幕后的黑手进行殊死搏斗。

寿宴上，村长黄秉义（洪金宝 饰）展示了精湛的厨艺，龙头刀法格外出众。帮厨阿良（洪天明 饰）受黄继祖（樊少皇 饰）指示，在菜里投毒陷害黄秉义，使后者被愤怒的村民驱逐，龙头刀也被剥夺。黄秉义来到师傅女儿沈青（应采儿 饰）开的四海一品店，在此结识了刚刚学成下山的龙建一（吴建豪 饰）。两人对四川名菜开水白菜的品评不谋而合。黄秉义更是一针见血地指出了要害，厨师不服，与之比拼厨艺，结果甘拜下风，愤然离去。店中不可一日无厨，所以沈青力邀黄秉义掌勺，龙建一见所投靠的厨师不及黄秉义，便要跟他比拼刀工，结果输得心服口服，甘愿做其弟子，并且在帮厨中与沈莹（加护亚依 饰）暗生情愫。黄继祖为报父仇，三番五次前来挑衅，于是双方展开了一场餐桌上的较量……
