《使命召唤4》重制版由开发了《使命召唤OL》，参与《使命召唤10，11，12》制作的RAVEN工作室操刀。在这次的重制版本当中，官方提升了游戏的材质贴图分辨率，纹理细节，高动态的各种光照，阴影特效粒子，对于游戏中的声音和动画也做了调整。
《使命召唤4》重制版当中还加入了十张多人地图，除了一些经典的地图（如Crash，Backlot，Crossfire等）之外，多人当中还会有诸如连杀，声望，XP等模式的加入。

玩家将穿梭在世界各地，重温系列史上的代表性战役，并与朋友在线并肩作战。在线模式在个人化的经典多人模式中，引进killstreak（连杀奖励）、经验值、Prestige（威望系统）等要素，重新定义了『Call of Duty』。
