Much like the skeleton of the hanged man swaying in the wind, there's not much meat on these bones.
Also, I think the song in this score is called "Many Key Changes For Burying the Remains of Your Dead Friend To".

There's a stream of consciousness-iness to this that I found enjoyable, but as I wrote elsewhere, I don't think I'm British enough to fully connect with it.

To get to the really great last 10 minutes, one must endure the 79 minutes that came before. There are a few cool moments sprinkled throughout, but it's a bit of a slog and a bit of a mess.
Me saying it's like bad *Suspiria* with bedevilled nuns instead of bewitched dance instructors makes it sound a lot better than it is, because this...is not that good.

Highly unusual, powerful and tragic horror film, which shows ignorance and superstitions of Italian province. A girl is believed to be possessed by the devil and the cause of the tragic events that occur in the small town where she lives. Israeli actress Daliah Lavi (who the same year plays in Mario Bava's "Whip and the Body") portrays young, ignorant country girl named Purificazione, who herself convinced that she is really responsible for all misfortunes. Director Rondi was acclaimed Italian screenwriter, who works with many great Italian directors, including Fellini, Rosselini, De Sica. "Il Demonio" was based on true facts.

I started at a 3, but worked up to a 3.5 after sleeping on it, and having given myself a few days, I might even be closer to a 4.
Regardless, Daliah Lavi gives a delightfully devilish performance that really keeps the whole thing afloat.
Sticking with a 3.5 for now, but we'll see what happens on a rewatch in the future.

A bit of a shaky start grows into an interesting melding where a real-life tragedy (cultural genocide against indiginous people at the hands of the Canadian government) meets an evil spirit from Algonquin folklore. The meat on this bone would benefit by being given a full-length treatment.

Released in 1968 and often referred to as Canada’s first music video, The Ballad of Crowfoot was directed by Willie Dunn, a Mi’kmaq/Scottish folk singer and activist who was part of the historic Indian Film Crew, the first all-Indigenous production unit at the NFB. The film is a powerful look at colonial betrayals, told through a striking montage of archival images and a ballad composed by Dunn himself about the legendary 19th-century Siksika (Blackfoot) chief who negotiated Treaty 7 on behalf of the Blackfoot Confederacy. The IFC’s inaugural release, Crowfoot was the first Indigenous-directed film to be made at the NFB.
