The Silent Thrush is a fascinating mixture of exoticism and eroticism. It tells the story of Mu Yun, a young woman who joins a Taiwanese opera company. Ka-hung, the company's star actress (who is Mu Yun's childhood idol) soon falls in love with Mu Yun. This provokes the intense jealousy of Ka-hung's longtime lover, Ai-cheng. Their melodrama of lesbian love is played out against the backdrop of the troupe's day-to-day problems.

Flavia is a thirtysomething married teacher. She has suppressed the memory of her adolescent lesbian fling with Jin and is stuck in a stifling marriage. A chance encounter in a supermarket with the playful and seductive singer Yip reawakens dormant feelings and she begins to think back on her teenage affair with Jin.

A Chinese-American lesbian and her traditionalist mother are reluctant to go public with secret loves that clash against cultural expectations.

The film tells the true story of Elisa Sánchez Loriga and Marcela Gracia Ibeas, two women in 1901 Spain who fell deeply in love. To overcome societal and legal barriers to their relationship, Elisa assumes a male identity, enabling the pair to marry in secret. Their daring act makes them the first recorded same-sex couple to marry in Spain, but their love is tested as they face relentless persecution and sacrifice.
