Underwater, Einaudi's first full solo piano album for 20 years, is a manifesto for life and a statement for this time when the world around him was quiet and silent. With 12 beautiful and intimate piano tracks featuring his trademark melodies, the album was written while Ludovico was isolated at his home in Italy, working without any distractions or the usual commitments that come with his busy schedule.

Kun-Woo Paik (백건우) made his debut at age ten performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Korean National Orchestra. At 15 he moved to New York to study with Rosina Lhévinne at The Juilliard School, and he also studied in London, with Ilona Kabos, and in Italy, with Guido Agosti and Wilhelm Kempff. His international career took off following his first New York appearance, performing Ravel’s complete piano works at Lincoln Center, as well as his orchestral debut at Carnegie Hall. He has since collaborated with conductors including Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Long Yu, Neville Marriner, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Jiří Bĕlohlávek, Vladimir Jurowski, Dmitri Kitayenko, Paavo Järvi, Iván Fischer, and Krzysztof Penderecki (performing his new piano concerto under his direction). He has performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra (1987’s Last Night of the Proms), Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Berliner Symphoniker, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Warsaw Philharmonic, and English Chamber Orchestra.
Kun Woo Paik’s recordings include works by Scriabin, Liszt, and Musorgsky, as well as the Rachmaninoff piano concerto cycle for BMG. His recording of the complete Prokofiev piano concertos received France’s Diapason d’Or 1993 and Nouvelle Académie du Disque awards. As an exclusive Decca artist, he recorded Busoni’s transcriptions of works by J.S. Bach, Fauré’s piano works (which won all the major prizes in France), and Chopin’s complete works for piano and orchestra (with Antoni Wit and the Warsaw Philharmonic); in 2005 he began a project to record all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas.
Mr. Paik’s recent engagements include a Carnegie Hall recital, a performance at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and Yuri Temirkanov, the complete Rachmaninoff concerto cycle in St. Petersburg, and returns to the New Japan Philharmonic, China Philharmonic, Shanghai Philharmonic, and Bergen Philharmonic. He has also given recitals in France, Italy, and Spain.
Kun Woo Paik, who lives in Paris, was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government in 2002.

Víkingur Ólafsson (born 14 February 1984) is an Icelandic pianist.

Icelandic pianist Víkingur Olafsson continues his successful recording career with a collection of well and lesser known pieces by the famous baroque composer. The selection includes reworks by Bach himself of composers such as Vivaldi and Busoni and Transcriptions / Reworks of Chorals by Víkingur Ólafsson himself. Víkingur Olafsson’s interpretation of the baroque repertoire are crystal clear, modern and hauntingly beautiful. For his third EMI Classics release, Evgeny Kissin has turned to repertoire from his native Russia, Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concertos Nos. 2 & 3. The performances were recorded live at the Royal Festival Hall in January 2008 with Vladimir Ashkenazy conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra. This is Kissin’s first recording of Prokofiev’s Concerto No 2.
Evgeny Kissin made his concerto debut in Russia at the age of ten and caused an international sensation three years later with the release of his recording of Chopin’s 2 Piano Concertos. Kissin proceeded to record the major concerto repertoire whilst still in his teenage years.
The collaboration between Evgeny Kissin and Vladimir Ashkenazy is an inspired choice. In addition to his renown as a conductor, Russian-born Vladimir Ashkenazy is one of the finest pianists of his generation and a champion of the Russian piano repertoire. He has performed all five of Prokofiev’s piano concertos on many occasions. In 2000, he was named Conductor Laureate of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Evgeny Kissin was born in Moscow in 1971. He could play the piano by ear and improvise from the time he was two. At the age of six, he entered Moscow’s Gnessin School of Music for gifted children, where he studied with Anna Pavlovna Kantor, who has remained his only teacher. In 1982, aged ten, he made his concerto debut in Mozart’s Piano Concerto K466 and, a year later, his solo recital debut.
Already at the age of 12, Kissin’s technique was remarkably accomplished and his emotional response to the music was also startlingly mature. He performed outside Russia for the first time in 1985 and made his first tour of Japan the following year. 1990 saw Kissin’s Proms debut and his North American debut with the New York Philharmonic and Zubin Mehta. His Carnegie Hall recital debut opened the Hall’s centennial season a week later.
Evgeny Kissin’s diary for 2009 features an extensive European/American/Asian recital tour, in which Kissin performs works by Prokofiev and Chopin in 25 major cities in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, China and South Korea.

Alexandra Stréliski is a Canadian neo-classical composer. She released her debut album, Pianoscope, in 2010. Songs from the album have appeared in several films and movies, specifically those by Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallée. This includes the Dallas Buyers Club, Demolition, and Big Little Lies.
