release date 2008-04-14 publisher: Universal Music Group/Island
"Bye Bye" is a song written by American singer Mariah Carey, Johnta Austin and Mikkel S. Eriksen, and Tor Erik Hermansen for Carey's eleventh studio album, E=MC². It was produced by Carey and Stargate, and was released as the second single from the album.
MTV stated that although the song appears to be about her deceased father, Carey "extends this song about death to be for anybody 'who just lost somebody' they truly care about and those who lost someone they hate, you still end up either feeling gulity or missing them". Carey believed that by making "Bye Bye" more open, "everybody could kind of be healed by the song and have their own experience listening to it".
The song premiered on radio April 7, 2008 and has been played on various radio stations in the United States, according to Mediabase. The single became available to download at iTunes on April 14, 2008.
Carey first performed "Bye Bye" on T4 4Music and performed it again live on April 14, 2008, the single's digital release date, on The Oprah Winfrey Show and then again, two days later, on the result show of American Idol season 7 on April 16. Carey performed the song on Good Morning America on April 25, 2008.
The single officially went for adds on April 22, 2008 on Mainstream and Rhythm/Crossover stations.
There are currently two official remixes for "Bye Bye", the first features Jay Z, while the second is assisted by Akon and Lil Wayne.
The song was nominated for R&B Track award at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards.
In some european countries (like The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Swiss) the song was never released, instead "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time", was sent to radio stations in July 2008 as the official 2nd single from the album.

Butterfly Douban
玛丽亚·凯莉 Mariah Carey genre: Pop
release date 1997-12-01 publisher: Columbia
"Butterfly" is a song by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey from her sixth studio album, Butterfly. It was released as the second single from the album on December 1, 1997 by Columbia Records. The song was written by Carey and Walter Afanasieff; both of them producing and arranging the song as well. "Butterfly" is a ballad combining elements of pop and gospel genres. Carey had originally conceived it as a house record with David Morales titled "Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise)". After realizing how personal the lyrics were and how they could be applied to Butterfly, she wrote the album's title track with Afanasieff. On the song's lyrics, Carey sings to someone, telling them to spread their wings and release into the world on their own, like a butterfly. Carey described the song as her "favorite and most personal ballad".
The song's music video depicts Carey in an abandoned house, trapped in a desolate life. As the video progresses, she leaves, apparently for the first time in years, and runs into a nearby meadow. Towards the end, Carey jumps over a barbed fence and goes out into the world on a horse. The song's lyrics and video were directly connected to Carey's personal life at the time. "Butterfly" was performed live on The David Letterman Show, Saturday Night Live and various European television programs. The song was also a permanent part of the set-list during her Butterfly World Tour during 1998. Due to current conflict with Columbia, "Butterfly" was never issued a commercial release, therefore hindering its charting ability. The song performed weakly on the charts, peaking outside the top twenty in most countries, except for New Zealand, where it peaked at number fifteen. In the United States, "Butterfly" was not eligible to chart on the Hot 100 due to Billboard rules at the time.

Daydream is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey. Released on October 3, 1995 by Columbia Records, the album leaned towards the hip hop and Contemporary R&B genres in comparison to her previous albums, Music Box (1993) and Merry Christmas (1994). Throughout the project, Carey collaborated with Walter Afanasieff, with whom she wrote and produced most of her two previous albums. With Daydream, Carey took more control over the musical direction as well as the album's composition. Carey said she considered Daydream the beginning of her musical and vocal transformation, a change that became more obvious in her 1997 release, Butterfly. During the album's production, Carey endured many creative differences with her label, Columbia Records and husband, Tommy Mottola.
On Daydream, Carey collaborated with Jermaine Dupri for the first time, and co-wrote and produced a song with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, with whom she had collaborated on Music Box. It was also the first time she had worked with Boyz II Men, an R&B group consisting of four male vocalists. Together, they wrote the concept and lyrics for "One Sweet Day", a song that Carey co-produced with Afanasieff. With his assistance and the addition of a few contemporary producers, she was able to make a subtle transition into the R&B market. Daydream was nominated for six Grammy Awards at the 38th annual ceremony, during which Carey performed live. Due to the album's critical and commercial success, critics believed Carey would be one of the nights big winners. However, to her dismay, she was completely shut out, causing the subject to become very public and controversial.
Six singles were released from the album. "Fantasy", the album's lead single, topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks, and became the second best-selling single of 1995 in the United States. The song topped the charts in Australia, Canada and New Zealand and became a top-five hit in Finland, France and the United Kingdom. "One Sweet Day" was the second single released from Daydream. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for sixteen weeks and became the longest-running number one single in US history, a record it still holds. It also topped the charts in Canada and New Zealand and peaked within the top five in Australia, France, Ireland and The Netherlands. Jointly the singles from Daydream spent a combined six months at the top of the Hot 100. To promote Daydream, Carey embarked on the short but successful, Daydream World Tour, visiting Japan and Europe.
Daydream became Carey's highest reviewed album at the time. Critics universally praised her matured lyrics and songwriting, as well as her musical direction. Alongside very favorable ratings, the album became a large worldwide commercial success. Daydream debuted at number one in over eight different countries, and in the top five in almost every major music market. The album became Carey's second album to be certified ten-times platinum (diamond) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), denoting shipments of over ten million copies in the United States. Aside from its success in the US, the album became the third best-selling album in Japan by a non-Asian artist, with over 2.1 million copies sold. Daydream remains one of the best-selling albums of all time, with sales of over 25 million copies worldwide.

All I Want for Christmas Is You Douban

release date 1994-12-01 publisher: Columbia
"All I Want for Christmas Is You" is a song by American singer Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff, recorded for Carey's album Merry Christmas (1994). Its protagonist declares that she does not care about Christmas presents or lights; all she wants for Christmas is to be with her lover. It is unrelated to the 1989 Christmas hit single by novelty act Vince Vance & The Valiants. It was released as the album's first single in December 1994 and reached the top ten in several countries. According to The New Yorker, it is "one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon."[1] Despite the common misconception that Carey merely covered this song, the track is in fact an original song written by Carey and Walter Afanasieff.[2] It has been covered by singers such as John Mayer, Shania Twain, Samantha Mumba, bands such as My Chemical Romance and Zebrahead, girl group The Cheetah Girls, and Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana). It was performed by Olivia Olson in the film Love Actually (2003). By late 2006, it had become the best-selling holiday ringtone of all time in the U.S.[3] "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is the best-selling contemporary holiday ringtone in the U.S. for third consecutive year with cumulative sales topping 1.8 million,[4] and is the first holiday song to sell one million digital downloads in the U.S.[5] In December 2009 "All I want For Christmas is You" became the world's first holiday ringtone to be certified 2x platinum by the RIAA and is the "top-selling holiday ringtone of all time".[6] It also remains the all-time best-selling single in Japan by an non-Asian female artist in history and was the best-selling single in 1994. It remains one of the best-selling singles of all time with sales of 12 million worldwide.
