上海自由即兴吉他手卖卖的2016年个人专辑，翻玩披头士中后期的三首经典歌曲。 卖卖从来不曾掩饰他对披头士的喜爱，在 Muscle Snog 的专辑《Mind Shop》中即收录有《A Day in the Life》的翻唱版本，这一次他走的更远。或者说是戏弄：披头士音乐中的所有精华在这里尽皆抹去，它们成为一些“材料”，供雕塑家使用。 值得一提的是，卖卖在这张专辑中演奏的是木吉他，这是他此前未曾尝试过的领域；亦有开口演唱，在 Muscle Snog 解散之后，这样的机会很难得了。 关于披头士，卖卖也写了一些自己的故事： 应该是在1997年的某个中午，那年我初二，第一次在电视机上看到The Beatles。MTV天籁村，放的是“I Want to Hold Your Hand”的MV，黑白的现场，那是Beatles带给我的第一次颤栗。 第二次发生在高一，1999年。前一天我在一家打口磁带店买到了所谓的“白色专辑”。那天我是跟校长和一位学姐去郊区一所学校参加什么校园小作家的研讨会之类。回来的途中我骑着自行车瞎逛，开始听那两盒白色的专辑。那次颤栗后我还跟同样喜欢摇滚乐的学姐讨论要组个乐队，我们都没学过、拥有过任何乐器，只是讨论，在之后很长一段时间里也确实是把我们当成一个乐队。 2001年我在郊区一所寄宿高中复读，那天是圣诞节，我躺在澡堂改成的男生宿舍里，听着列侬和小野洋子唱的 “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)”。当时我似乎真的哭出来了。这也算在Beatles带来的颤栗中吧，第三次。从那以后，这样的颤栗再未出现过。

Despite the enormous anticipation and expectations, Before The Dawn drew resounding praise from fans and critics all over the world. Mogwai release their stunning soundtrack to the documentary by prolific director, Mark Cousins; Atomic: Living In Dread and Promise which was aired on BBC Four last summer. The soundtrack has been especially re-recorded for release at the band's Castle Of Doom Studios in Glasgow. Guest appearances on the album come from occasional band member Luke Sutherland, Sophie and former The God Machine's Robin Proper-Sheppard and Glasgow composer Robert Newth. Artwork includes images from the film and comes in the form of CD, double gatefold heavy pressed vinyl with download code and digital download. As with their soundtrack to the Zidane documentary, the band will be performing this soundtrack live at dates across the world throughout 2016.

This tape was recorded live at President Piano Co., an iconic rehearsal studio in Mongkok, Hong Kong, that opened in 1978. We used the studio’s guitar, bass and amplifiers, which have been worn down over almost 40 years of use. Big Thief's music, rooted in the songs of Adrianne Lenker, paints in vivid tones "the process of harnessing pain, loss, and love, while simultaneously letting go, looking into your own eyes through someone else's, and being okay with the inevitability of death," says Adrianne. Masterpiece, Big Thief's debut album, is filled with characters and visceral narratives, songs that pivot in the space of a few words. Adrianne's voice and guitar playing speak of rich emotional territory with grace and insight. In her words, the record tracks "the masterpiece of existence, which is always folding into itself, people attempting to connect, to both shake themselves awake and to shake off the numbness of certain points in their life. The interpretations might be impressionistic or surrealistic, but they're grounded in simple things." Adrianne met her longtime musical partner, guitarist and singer, Buck Meek, in Brooklyn a few years ago, and they quickly formed a creative bond tempered by the experience of traveling and performing for months on end in old dive bars, yards, barns, and basements together. They recorded a pair of duo albums (A-Sides and B-Sides), and Adrianne showcased her songs on a solo album, Hours Were The Birds. Now, as a full rock and roll band, with Buck on guitar, Max Oleartchik on bass, and James Krivchenia on drums, they bring a steady wildness, giving the songs an even deeper layer of nostalgia. "These guys feel like a pack of wolves at my back," says Adrianne, "they make the songs howl and bark with a fierce tenderness that gives me courage." After spending last July in an old house that they turned into a studio on Lake Champlain with producer Andrew Sarlo, the resulting collection soars on what Big Thief fan Sharon Van Etten calls "...a real journey, with intelligent stories and twist-and-turn melodies."

Jay Som represents the musical vision of San Francisco singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Melina Duterte. Constantly shifting, that vision embraces indie, alternative, pop, and even a little shoegaze assembled by its architect’s hand like an infinite puzzle with no border. This unpredictable sonic sensibility is threaded together by melody but never bound to it. Turn Into, a collection of finished and unfinished songs written, recorded, and mixed between March 2014-October 2015, offers a snapshot of her musical evolution up to this point. Her self-described “headphone music” is the product of a full musical immersion that began during her childhood in the Bay Area. Born to a DJ dad and singer mom, she spent her formative years studying old cassettes and records as well as performing on the family karaoke machine. She picked up trumpet before eventually teaching herself guitar. Duterte started uploading her music to Soundcloud as Jay Som—a moniker she randomly found via an online baby name generator meaning, “Victory Moon.” By 2015, she had accumulated a growing following on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. After a few too many glasses of wine on Thanksgiving, she decided to unveil an early version of Turn Into online, performing every instrument—guitar, bass, keys, and drums. Signing to Polyvinyl Records, Turn Into gets a proper release in 2016. Its first single “Ghost” simultaneously haunts and hypnotizes as her voice hums a shimmering harmony punctuated by fits of fuzzed-out six-string emotion, acoustic unease, and poignant personal lyricism. Elsewhere, “Why I Say No” rides the crest of a surf guitar swell, while a whimsical and wild guitar lead jostles “Next To Me.” The distorted trudge of “Drown” beckons, while the title track offers a sun-soaked send-off. 2016 also saw her release a one-off 7-inch of “I Think You’re Alright” and “Rush” on Fat Possum Records in addition to embarking on her first proper tour with Mitski and Japanese Breakfast. Next up, Duterte will release her official full-length debut album for Polyvinyl in 2017, further welcoming listeners into her vision.
