2008年5月12日四川汶川发生8.0级大地震，法国传教士一百年前来白鹿镇修建的天主教神学院—上书院在地震中坍塌。国家文物局计划对上书院进行重建。修建过程中，白鹿镇三代天主教教民唐敏因生活中的利益关系与邻居蒋家发生冲突，其妻子和女儿被蒋家父子残忍杀害，唐敏的信仰也随之坍塌。六年之后，坍塌的上书院重建竣工，唐敏也再婚有了一个三岁的女儿，白鹿镇的生活似乎又恢复了坍塌之前的那种平静。
