直木賞作家・藤沢周平氏が俳諧（はいかい）師・小林一茶の生涯を綴った「一茶」が、リリー・フランキー主演で映画化されることが決定した。リリーは「一茶のように、低い目線で、人間臭く生きてゆくこと。その在り方と、挫けない気持ちを少しでも定着できるよう、無欲の欲で、作品に献身したいと思います」と意気込みを語っている。
原作は、藤沢氏が一茶の長年にわたる家族との愛憎、世間との埋まらない溝への葛藤などを綴り、世間に知られるイメージを刷新した傑作小説。映画では、一茶の波乱の人生を描く。継母との折り合いが悪く江戸へ奉公に出された一茶は、俳諧師として認められていくが、句は田舎俳諧と揶揄され、貧しい生活を余儀なくされる。その後も、父の遺言をめぐって家族と争ったり、妻子に先立たれたりと苦渋を味わうが、句を止めることはなかった。
確執がありながらも一茶の作品に強い影響を与え続けた継母・さつを中村玉緒、一茶思いの異母弟・仙六を伊藤淳史、父・弥五兵衛を石橋蓮司、最初の妻・菊を佐々木希が演じるほか、水川あさみ、立花美優、高橋かおり、内野聖陽、奥田瑛二ら豪華キャストが共演。「劇場版テンペスト3D」の吉村芳之監督がメガホンをとり、「武士の献立」「武士の家計簿」などを手がけた柏田道夫が脚本を担当する。
映画は、一茶の故郷である長野県を中心に撮影中で、11月にクランクアップ、2017年に公開を予定している。
