2011 release, a collaboration with modern Lounge lizards Pink Martini and Japanese Easy Listening/Pop vocalist Saori Yuki. Saori released her debut album in Japan in 1969 and has gone on to record over 30 albums in her 42 years. Yuki discovered Pink Martini after the band covered her song 'Taya Tan' for their 2007 album Hey Eugene! Most recently, she sang a verse of 'Silent Night' in Japanese for the band's hit 2010 holiday album Joy To The World. In honor of the year of her debut release, Saori Yuki partnered with Pink Martini and producer Thomas M. Lauderdale to create a loving tribute to the music released in 1969. Featuring Japanese pop hits alongside internationally recognized tunes like Jorge Ben's 'Mas que nada' and 'Puff the Magic Dragon, 1969 is a brilliant collaboration featuring Thomas M.Lauderdale's magical arrangements, Pink Martini's stellar musicianship, and Saori Yuki's soaring vocals.

Je dis oui! is the upcoming album by Pink Martini, scheduled to be released by Heinz Records on November 18, 2016. Guests vocalists include Ari Shapiro, Ikram Goldman, Kathleen Saadat, and Rufus Wainwright. The album was recorded at Kung Fu Bakery and B-Side Studios in Portland, Oregon. It was produced by Thomas Lauderdale and Kyle Mustain, and engineered by Dave Friedlander and Steve Sundholm.

'Aventine' is the eagerly anticipated new album from Agnes Obel, released 30th September on Play It Again Sam. 'Aventine' is the follow up to her critically acclaimed debut album 'Philharmonics' (2010), which has sold 450,000 copies across Europe, achieving Platinum status in France and Belgium, five times Platinum in her native Denmark, where Agnes picked up five Danish Music Awards (the Danish Brits) in 2011. Originally from Copenhagen, Agnes has lived in Berlin since 2006, where 'Aventine' was recorded at her Chalk Wood Studios between January and May this year. Like 'Philharmonics', the new album was written, arranged, and produced by Agnes, who provides piano and vocals. Anne M_ller, who has also played with Nils Frahm, adds cello, with Mika Posen of Timber Timbre playing the violin and viola on 'The Curse', 'Pass Them By' and 'Fivefold'. Robert Kondorossi of Budzillus plays guitar on 'Pass Them By'. "While touring 'Philharmonics' I kept on getting all these ideas for recording, and I wanted to explore the cello and other string instruments" says Agnes of 'Aventine'. "I recorded everything quite closely, miking everything closely in a small room, with voices here, the piano here - everything is close to you. So it's sparse, but by varying the dynamic range of the songs I could create almost soundscapes. I was able to make something feel big with just these few instruments." Agnes Obel will play a few intimate shows before the album release, prior to a full European tour in the autumn. Details to follow soon.

還弦主義アルバム第2弾!! 平沢進ソロ楽曲セルフ・カヴァー 『変弦自在』11月10日リリース!! 平沢進ソロ20周年/P-MODEL30周年記念イベント「凝集する過去 - 還弦主義8760時間」の一環として2009年10月より行われている「還弦主義的リメイク」作業。 P-MODEL作品に続き、2010年5月からは平沢進ソロ作品のリメイクがスタート。 オリジナル版ではストリングス中心のアレンジなどありえなさそうだったナンバーから、すでにストリングスがふんだんに使われている楽曲まで、新解釈の還弦アレンジが施された。 「夢みる機械」ではライヴではおなじみとなったテスラ・コイルのスパーク音と競演、ノイズとシンフォニーが奇妙な調和を見せる。 「サイレン*Siren*」は、還弦作業中に亡くなった今 敏監督の「今的大終了」を飾るべく、映画『パプリカ』のパレード・シーンの魑魅魍魎たちが監督の棺を担いで街中を練り歩くというイメージのもと、まったく違う様相へと生まれ変わった。 「金星」をはじめとする楽曲では、ナイロン弦のアコースティック・ギター・サウンドも楽しめる。 リスナーによるリメイク楽曲リクエスト期間に「スケッチ」として発表されていた断片からは想像もつかないスケールで展開するストリングス・ワールド。 2011年1月開催のライヴ「東京異次弦空洞」では、さらに躍動する還弦世界を見せてくれそうだ。
