The Ting Tings -- a scrappy, dance-oriented indie pop duo consisting of singer/guitarist Katie White and drummer Jules De Martino -- formed in the Salford district of Manchester, England, in 2006. Quickly signed to the local indie label Switchflicker Records, the Ting Tings released their debut single, "That's Not My Name," in the spring of 2007. Following the limited-edition, tour-only single "Fruit Machine," the Ting Tings signed to major label Columbia Records later that year. The flip side of the Switchflicker single, "Great DJ," was released as the duo's debut major-label single in March 2008, followed by the reissue of "That's Not My Name" with a new exclusive B-side remix. "That's Not My Name" rose to the top of the U.K. charts in May 2008, the same month that the duo's debut album, We Started Nothing, appeared.

自赏梦幻.电气童话 Childs《Yui》 Childs - Yui电气.童话.摇篮曲. 飘然的音符催眠了每一处躁动的神经. ... childs 是处女专辑《yui》听起来颇有ambient 的韵味，其中虽有着冰岛苍凉广阔的影子 ... Genre: Electronica / Indie Childs是来自墨西哥的音乐家Paúl Marrón， Guillermo Bátiz在01年成立的乐队 50％的独立小电子 + 30％的自赏梦幻流行 + 80％的后摇，这样的一个小杂烩风格被他们自己定义成了electronic lullabies，电子童谣。有人说yui中有不少《新世纪福音战士》的声音片断，我不大清楚，不过childs成员对动漫的热爱充满在整张LP中，从封面到编曲都能感觉到。 安静、祥和、一如摇篮曲般让人放松，一头扎入美妙的旋律中，头发随着音符扩散开 睁着眼睛，看在水底发呆的海龟。 海面上，已经下雨了 闻到了么 这么轻的声音，想起了cafe del mar，那股来自西班牙沙滩上的Lounge风潮 由 Paul Marron 和 Guillermo Batiz 組成的墨西哥電音組合。Yui 內除了 electronica外，作品中還包括 dream pop，post rock，ambient 等其他原素。Yui可以說是一張非常有趣的作品，一方面有一些輕鬆的 electro-pop 作品好像 S.A.D 和 Reki ，另外亦有 epic 式作品 lan P。時而有典型 laptop artist 式簡單編排；又有長篇大論 post rock 式電音，變奏高潮起伏。曲目時有 Sigur Ros 式天籟之音；有時又滲出 Mum式的原始 analog 音效 。音樂上，除了一般的鍵琴編排，Yui 內的弦樂編排也做得頗為出色。這張 CD 碟面上印有兩個小朋友的畫像，想也必是 Paul 和 Guillermo 對自身的投影吧。天真的氣氛中頗有一點娃娃看天下的味道。Childs 曾經用" electronic lullabies " 來形容他們自家的音樂，這也不失為一個貼切的形容。

This is the story of YMO’s formation in the late 1970s, in brief: Hosono, already a musical force in Japan after leading the influential rock group Happy End, assembles a crew of session players for his next solo album. This group includes a friend from college named Yukihiro Takahashi, as well as an up-and-coming arranger named Ryuichi Sakamoto. The jazzy exotica masterwork Paraiso, credited to Harry Hosono and the Yellow Magic Band, is released in 1978. That same year, Hosono asks Takahashi and Sakamoto if they want to start a new project together. He proposes the new band as a “stepping stone” to greater heights in each of their solo careers. Takahashi agrees; after some initial hesitation, Sakamoto does, too.

Originally developed as a way create new material for Tristano's p:anorig project ― a unique live set-up debuted at Barcelona's Sonar festival earlier this year, which finds the artist surrounded by large array of keyboards, synthesizers and other equipment (although ironically, no piano) in full view of the audience ― Surface Tension grew into a project in its own right. Now 34 years old, Tristano explains that he is only now at a time in his life where he has a studio he can truly call his own. "I can hook up all these synthesizers that I've picked up over the years," he continues, "it's the fulfillment of that." With an instrumentarium of analogue, digital, classic and modern gear ― ranging from Prophets to Moogs, to Rolands and Yamahas ― at his and May's disposal, Tristano has aimed to keep processing to a minimum from the word go. The pair aren't just using these synths, they're paying tribute to them, honoring the rich, recognisable sound palettes that have made them household names. The result is an album that feels, at once, nostalgic and fresh; that feels like an old friend, but one who never ceases to surprise. From the ambient vision of 'Esoteric Thing', drifting along to the sound of birdsong, to more beat-centric pieces such as 'The Mentor' and the quirky 'Xokolade' , the equipment, and the love it's been treated with, shines through. Both Tristano and May's individual presences are obvious too, yet work in a way so complimentary to each other as to blur the lines at which they cross. 'Pacific FM' is a lesson in uplifting techno, keys fluttering over padfoot bass; the futuristic Detroit dance of 'In Da Minor' is undercut by eerie, unpredictable glass synth-work; 'Rocco's Bounce' is free-form jazz tugged into line by structured four-to-the-floor; there's even an itchy, jittering, Decca Records-sanctioned remix of Japanese pianist and general Renaissance man, Ryuichi Sakamoto's classic 'Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence'.

Guernsey’s Alex Crossan—who trades under a name inspired by a 16th-century Japanese swordsmith—arrives. This is a debut album that circles a full kaleidoscope of electronic pop invention and fully justifies hype built when his Firefly EP arrived in 2015. Its juddering, NAO-assisted title track makes the cut here, alongside a full fleet of should-be singles. “Love$ick”—an update on another 2015 single and now with added A$AP Rocky—is a tropical banger fit for premium BBQ playlists, while Damon Albarn brings things to a mournful, gorgeous close on “Blu”.
