Il va entreprendre de la conquérir, sans brusquerie, à pas comptés… De lui, on ne saura rien, ou presque. Mais l’on saura tout, en revanche, de la manière dont il la découvre et l’observe, dont il la désire, et de sa manière à elle de s’exposer, parfois plus et parfois moins, à ce regard masculin saisi par le sentiment amoureux. Tous les menus événements ordinaires d’une vie de jeune adulte d’aujourd’hui s’y égrènent tranquillement – l’inviter au restaurant, au cinéma, l’écouter se raconter, subir ses copains rencontrés au détour d’un trottoir, aller ensemble à une soirée d’anniversaire… –, portés par une inventivité graphique et une justesse d’observation peu communes. Très remarqué pour ses précédents livres sous la bannière de KSTR (notamment Le goût du chlore), Bastien Vivès déploie ici une nouvelle facette de son talent de dessinateur (Dans mes yeux est entièrement traité au crayon de couleur, dans une chromie très accrocheuse) et démontre avec cet album d’une grande maturité qu’il est déjà un auteur d’envergure, tout simplement.
