2021 film directed by Nobuhiro Doi

A detective, a manga editor, a failed cartoonist and a single mother are among the customers who come to the midnight diner for food and company.

Twelve-year-old Koichi, who has been separated from his brother Ryunosuke due to his parents' divorce, hears a rumor that the new bullet trains will precipitate a wish-granting miracle when they pass each other at top speed.

The midnight diner's master serves up food and sympathy to more motley customers, ranging from yakuza to pachinko parlor workers to strippers.

Each night a midnight diner serves up just four dishes, but customers aren't really there for the food: They've come for advice and a sympathetic ear.
