a review of 小丑回魂

It (2017)Far better than I had anticipated prior to its release. I don't really have any attachment to the book (didn't read it) or the ABC miniseries (which I barely remember) but I feel like the filmmakers basically nailed their metaphors in this version, and the whole film feels really resonant because of it. If you read Pennywise as an embodiment of not just the kids' own fears, but of the anxiety and sickness at the heart of American life itself, so many things about this movie fall into place in a way that no other King adaptation has for me. I look forward to the second part, but I wonder if it's even necessary, since the first film was quite satisfying on its own.
