Halloween (1978)

I think this is the viewing where the movie finally opened itself up for me. For one thing, I think I now have a more solid understanding of what the "rules" behind Michael Myers' very selective murder MO are, which hadn't been clear to me in the past. And some of Carpenter's directorial choices (e.g. the excruciating slow burn of Michael stalking the girls, the lack of connection between the Loomis plot and anything else) that had eluded me previously finally clicked this time. I'm not sure if I'm watching it with a more developed eye now, or if I was just watching it wrong before, but I really dug it this time and I didn't necessarily expect to.
