Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

I feel sort of the same way about this movie as I did about the original -- they're both very entertaining in a silly sort of way, but it's hard to really take them 100% seriously because of my familiarity with the source material. Karloff does wonderfully at reformulating his performance to capture some of the additional layers of Shelley's monster that we didn't get in the original, but so much of the movie is given over to frankly goofy bits of business (e.g. Dr. Pretorius' ridiculous collection of homunculi) at the expense of the main attraction (Elsa Lanchester, who is legitimately great in the two scenes she's given) that I found myself a little bit disappointed in the end.
