Westworld (1973)I love the HBO series, but Crichton's execution of the original film's core premise lacks a certain sophistication, even for 1973. It's kind of a plodding mess of underimagined and dully realized technology, coupled with creepy boys-will-be-boys morality straight out of Mad Men. There was something very much not right with Middle America in the 1970s, and this film doesn't so much satirize that as simply reflect it.
