a review of 绿色食品

I wasn't expecting this one to be one of the more prescient films of the Criterion Channel's 70s Sci-Fi collection (Jan 2020). This movie's future feels like it's perhaps only a few turns of the dial from our own, with global warming-induced austerity to unaccountable police gangs to (supposedly) plant-based protein substitutes. Not everything in the movie really holds up to scrutiny, but finally seeing how they arrive at the now-famous twist was a pretty engaging experience.
