a review of 007之金刚钻

Diamonds Are Forever (1971)Apparently this one isn't a particular favorite of the Bond cognoscenti, but I found it pretty enjoyable. The Vegas setting maybe feels a bit tacky compared to the lush Eurasian travelogues in most of the films, but I think it works here as a change of pace. Otherwise, this feels like a pretty archetypal Bond film, with all of the key elements in place: A memorable collection of baddies and Bond girls, a neat gradual unfolding of the initial premise into a world-endangering plot, and director Guy Hamilton's playful approach to 007's world that worked so well in Goldfinger.
