a review of 胜利之歌

I think one way to view this movie might be as a wild tall tale from a shameless self-aggrandizing huckster and an indictment of mindless patriotic pandering during wartime, but at the same time, I don't think the text or its intentions bear that out. Cagney does a fine performance, but as a movie it feels both too earnest but also unwilling to deal with the actual reality of its subject.
