a review of 男人

Doing an off-list movie in the midst of Hooptober: I liked this more than most of the people I follow on LB, but I think I also have a lot more patience for Garland's whole directing style. I do agree that the overall concept -- "what if men were *creepy*?" -- might have been stronger with at least a credited female co-writer instead of Garland trying to solo it. I'm also worried that between this and "I'm Thinking Of Ending Things", Jessie Buckley might be getting into a rut of playing women trapped in extremely bleak gender allegories.
