Too Much Jump Scares, Not Enough Scares

The actual snuff film stuff is really effective shot and genuinely extremely creepy, so I enjoy that. However most of the "horror" in this movie is just jump scares and spooky scenes, it doesn't really do much for me as a horror film and the ending doesn't much either. As a true crime nut I related a lot to the lead character a fair amount and could sympathize with a dedication to the case which along with the super 8 footage helps bump this up from a 2.5 to a 3 cause I might rewatch in the future. But it shows a lot of what I didn't like about early 2010s horror.
