1.对于主我和客我的讨论最后其实衔接到现代性中个人与社会的张力的问题，读社会的部分，会发现米德并不缺少宏观部分的理论建构，反而他对mass politics和nationalism有所预见。2.这次读原版尤其感觉到这本书因不是米德自己写就，而许多地方重复、冗长。3.米德对于科学化的社会心理学研究是在意的，这体现在反复出现的、对社会学家不太重要的对神经系统等生理基础的提及，尽管这也不是米德自己最在乎的部分。4.米德在心理学系的教科书上完全没有被记得，尽管这本书第一部分几乎只是在批判或和心理学家对话。
