Fun, but not a must-watch

The first movie was an entertaining example of a Norwegian kaiju film, and this sequel offers more of the same. The troll folklore is fun, and there's even some Indiana Jones style tomb raiding added to the mix, but despite the bigger budget the action sequences don't feel like they managed to surpass those of the first movie. It also felt like we didn't spend enough time with the supporting characters to really feel much of anything when they're killed off. Worth watching for fans of the original and those who enjoy the similar King Kong/Godzilla Monsterverse movies, but if you were left cold (oh ho ho) by the first movie, don't bother with the sequel.
