Ricky Gervais: Mortality - Review
For a comedian who bloviates so much about freedom of speech and truth-telling, this special lacked much in the way of bite or even edge. Gervais spends time talking about criticism of another comedian's use of the word "retarded" and whether it's OK for a physically disabled but non-mentally impaired person to use. The only time we hear about Gervais fighting for his own speech is when he wanted to use the word "minge" as part of the punchline of a Cats joke at the Golden Globes. Thanks for fighting the good fight, I guess. And if you're hosting the Golden Globes on multiple occasions, censorship probably isn't a big concern. Who is keeping us from hearing Ricky Gervais' voice?
