The Hampdens music is about absence, loss, disillusionment, nuclear anxiety, unreachable glamour, burnt out Sundays, and life as a social suicide ?but then again it抯 also about beauty, youth, hope, re-enchantment, the washed-out dream-like promise of suburbia, falling asleep on the lawn in the sunshine, a stranger calling your name in the night, and plunging your hands in the warm earth.
