文笔庄重、古典而美妙，宏大而细腻的太空歌剧，但其实设定非常像低魔+中世纪奇幻世界。设定上可以探究的东西非常多——从缺水起，以此为支点设定一个民族的文化，加上沙虫的生命路径，设定一个星球的生态循环、产出和价值，间接奠定矛盾根源。Bene Gesserit筛选培育后代与Witcher系列中Sorceress的试图有点相近。读时无数次想到阿拉伯的劳伦斯。主角设定无比完美，以至于结局机械降神时都毫不意外了。为续写把蛇尾蛇成这样很懒得再翻续作。
