a review of 招魂

A masterful build-up of tension and true fright. Director James Wan shows off the deft hand given to him by years of experience in the horror genre and created his scariest film. The acting is nothing short of incredible and the humanity in the story keeps one invested whether they believe the "based on a true story" claim or not. It shows that the most terrifying of moments are the slow ones. It's one flaw is that it falls back on tired exorcism tropes in it's final act.
