a review of 啄木鸟伍迪
Movie · Review
Woody Woodpecker (2017)Woody himself is cute enough and can be pretty amusing. There's an overreliance on poop and fart jokes, but the occasional witty one-liner and silly antics can provide some cheap chuckles. The overall movie is just burdened by some issues of the variety that you probably already expected. Mainly too much emphasis being placed on the dull human characters and a generic setup. The story looks like it's going to have an environmentalist vibe to it, but the real morals being preached here are about family and friendship. The whole things feels like a straight-to-DVD affair and it hits all the beats you would expect. It follows an overly common, kid-friendly formula that you've probably seen done to death at this point. The biggest sin committed here is that Woody feels like a side-character in his own movie. Kids will get a kick out of this, but older fans of the screwball woodpecker aren't going to be as entertained. Although it's far more watchable than one would expect. No, your fond memories of the old cartoons are going to be reignited with this movie. At least not until after the credits are over. That's when the charming "Niagara Fools" short plays. So pop this one in for the youngsters. With the exception of some unnecessary, but minor swear words being used it's a wholesome and harmless little kids flick. Far from the best your children could be watching, but it can provide you with a little bit of a break to get some other stuff done. When it's over you can fast forward to that ending cartoon and see the real Woody Woodpecker as you remember him. Just don't expect to find him in the actual film.
