Rampage: Capital Punishment (2014)

The follow up to Uwe Boll's surprisingly competent 2009 action flick finds the director back to his usually expected crappiness. It's the little things that reveal just how stupid this movie is. Like how people continue walking down the street to get gunned down by a guy in an alley because they apparently couldn't hear the gunshots that occurred just seconds ago right in front of them. That's not to say there aren't plenty of bigger moments of sheer idiocy, because there most certainly are. Capital Punishment exists solely for Uwe Boll to preach and the parts of the movie that aren't dedicated to that are in desperate need of some actual material. Boll has some... interesting things to say. But before he gets to his soapbox and literally starts patting himself on the back, we the viewers get treated to some of the most mean-spirited displays of violence from a psychopath that the film tries to portray as some sort of anti-hero for change. Such as one instance where a male hostage is forced at gunpoint to beat up one of the women in the room with him. There are also some old man rants about things like yoga as well. Whether you agree with Boll's views or not, there's little reason to get behind anything he's saying here because he offers no actual solutions. Every explanation he tries to give for the protagonist's actions are convoluted, and not in a let's question the flawed ideology of a clearly deranged man sort of way. In Rampage 2 the decent concept of the first movie is taken in a direction far too political to actually fit the content and finds itself with not enough plot to fill it's roughly hour-and-a-half running time with anything interesting. There is a certain amount of entertainment value to be found in laughing at how ridiculous and unintentionally goofy the majority of the film's events are, but with mediocre action, bad acting, and a whole lot of nothing going on most of the time there's no reason to check this out even if you are a fan of the original. At the end of the day this is just another bad Uwe Boll movie and a poor way to capitalize on a surprise success.
