a review of 食人鱼

This wasn't the worst scary movie I've seen trying to capitalize on the fear of the water Jaws created, but it did have a lot of annoyances that seems as though they could have been avoided if anyone gave a damn. They'd have a scene of carnage followed by what seemed like ten minutes of pointless dialogue, and then they'd shoehorn some dumb joke in when there wasn't any tension to cut. The fishy monster was pretty lackluster except for some nifty animation early on which doesn't end up having any bearing on the rest of the movie. They thought they could frighten me by showing more and more scenes of people entering the water right after some over the top violence, but it just made me kind of angry they though I could be manipulated that cheaply. And it all comes to an abrupt end without anything thought-provoking about it. At least it wasn't two hours long.
