大山版的执导技巧更加出色，但在故事立意方面，水田版作了不少改良。原作这个故事还是有几处缺点的，尤其第六主角克克鲁的戏份虎头蛇尾，缺席了最终决战，而水田版加强了克克鲁在故事中的作用，克克鲁的外貌也更接近漫画原作（大山版的不如原作美型）。大山版删掉了大BOSS说“我来自23世纪”的名场面、以及结尾克克鲁长大后成为部落首领的镜头，这两处地方水田版也还原了。
