I read about the so-called "no-undo/no-redo" algorithm (https://courses.cs.washington.edu/courses/csep545/05wi/readings/shadowing.pdf) in Dirk Van Gucht's database course in 2009, once a year since then, "Oh! That's just like the no-undo/no-redo algorithm!"
