Chris Pine shines in this imbalance action thriller. The Contractor, directed by Tarik Saleh, is a decent movie with a decent story and decent action. This film goes through an identity crisis by portraying itself as an emotional action thriller and a message movie. The Contractor spends more time on flashbacks and daddy issues than on the actual plot or action. The plot follows a typical template, the plot twist is evident from the beginning of the mission, and the ending is predictable. There is not enough action for the action genre. The chemistry between Ben Foster and Chris Pine is impressive, resulting in a solid performance. It lacked creative character development and an original plot despite some realistic combat sequences that were entertaining.
