a review of 登山家

this is the best climbing film that exists. i say this as both a climber who enjoys similar types of climbing as marc and as a film enthusiast. there is SO MUCH emotion in this film. there are two types of climbers. people who are there for the conquest and people for whom climbing is spiritual. basically every single climbing film we have is about conquest or something closely adjacent. this film is about awe and wonder and how tiny and meaningless humans are. its subject matter is perfect and perfectly portrayed. we have very few films of any type that portray a love as pure as the love portrayed in this movie.
