a review of 罪夜之奔

first of all, fuck cops, and fuck the evil ass DA in this. this is giving both cops and lawyers way too much credit. it's also just barely scratching at the surface of how evil our "justice" system is. this is really well directed. it is emotional and dramatic (what HBO production isn't). it is impeccably acted. and the writing is even good if you don't think about it too hard. it's also kind of amazing HBO made this in 2016. however, it is disappointingly voyeuristic in the way it oversimplifies, gawks at, exploits the racism it's claiming to care about exposing. you can't do something like this halfway.
