i dunno. this is fine and cute, and also can't help but leave with the feeling that the setting added more drama and sentimentality than they writing, plot, or characters did, which is kinda weird for a movie that is obviously striving to be sentimental. the thing that comes through most strongly is basically awkward cringe porn about a kinda creepy, rich, infantile man who never (never) shuts up. i feel bad for the director. if you're handed a script about some kinda legendary band playing a show, and the songs aren't legendary, i think it's probably hard to pull off. also, honestly just felt the whole time like the main character was just a slightly different version of the ridiculous man baby from the movie the hangover. just didn't do it for me.
