Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World (2023)

man i dunno, on one hand this is like the funniest thing i've seen in a long time. the bigoted, chauvinistic internet persona the main character has is insanely funny. on the other hand it's 2 hours and 40 minutes long for some reason, and pretty boring when it's not being hilarious. we have like 30 minutes of footage that looks exactly like the movie poster. just filming this woman driving with the camera in the passenger seat. boring. they spend like another 20-30 minutes telling the backstory of the grandmother, which i still cannot figure out why aside from just illustrating that misogyny existed in romania under communism and also now under capitalism? the last 30 minutes are this weirdly framed, horrifically lit single take. i'll prob watch this again and maybe i'll get more from it. i just wish it was a little more tidy from a storytelling standpoint and had a consistent aesthetic (there are like at least 3 different camera aesthetics going on and it didn't work for me).
