Palo Alto (2014)

lots of this movie is utterly repulsive, insanely not fun to watch. somehow parts of the movie made me feel stuff (other than disgust) and i guess i'm a little curious about it in that way. i think i hate almost every character (which is an interesting angle to go with as a writer and director). a white teenager says the n word about ten minutes into the movie, which kinda sets the tone for the whole thing. it's like if american honey had a baby with garden state but the manic pixie dream girl was a little bit evil (not evil, but i really dunno how to explain) and every single boy was worse than the worst boy in garden state (and a rapist). we definitely had a few teachers at my hs like mr. b, gross. dunno what the point of this movie is. the tension mostly comes from this feeling of "oh my god when is another adult gonna try to fuck a teenager" and how that feeling never really leaves once you know that's a thing some adults do and it creates that pretty well, so maybe that's the point? "i think all movies and tv shows and video games these days are just pointless." ok, kinda incredible ending starting with the pool scene.
