Grey Gardens (1975)

i dunno. i think first of all this isn't my kind of documentary. it's nearly 100% just slice of life (for Edies Big & Little) footage. it's about 70% them talking over one another (basically bickering about the same three things the whole time). the first one is bickering about whether each of them is able to sing beautifully. the second is whether or not each of them should have gotten married to a man, and also to which man she should have gotten married. the third is that Little Edie resents having spent so much time living with Big Edie and wants to leave. the fourth...yeah ok they bicker about way more than three things, but it's all on loop. at least one of the Edies (Little) is pretty clearly mentally ill or incredibly neurodivergent. i think this documentary almost certainly wouldn't have been made if the subjects weren't loosely related to a president. it also feels exploitive. i know i'm not the first to say this, but like what in the absolute hell. the documentary is pretty hard to watch. like, yeah i dunno. almost certainly would not watch again unless bribed by a hot queer.
