a review of 科学怪人

disappointing. technicolor cgi nightmare recreation of a classic story. the rewrites are bafflingly nonsensical. the whole thing is just obscenely trite. maybe i'm desperately wanting another guillermo movie as incredible as pan's labyrinth. this one isn't it, and i'm kinda convinced at this point that it is not gonna happen. mia goth is queen as always, her costumes are amazing. some of the sets (the ones that aren't horrific cgi) are cool. but costumes and sets does not a movie make. the first half is so boring it's essentially unwatchable. the second half is notably better, but the writing is still a dumpster fire.
