The Librarians (2025)this poses as a documentary about librarians fighting book bans, but it better serves as a thorough account of what incompetent and ineffectual "allies" the vast majority of white liberals are. for all their struggles, what did these librarians achieve? nothing. ~ i thought this was gonna be annoying when it started with a cis white lady saying something like "omg we had no idea this was gonna happen" and "now we are on the front lines" and boy did it ever deliver. it is infuriating, but not for the reasons most people are describing in the comments. ~ no, middle class cis white lady, you are in fact not on the "front lines" or "the battleground" or whatever the hell. grow up. ~ i have no sympathy for anyone who "didn't know this was coming". the republican party (american nazi party) has been saying out loud "hey we are full fledged nazis now" for the last decade. wake the fuck up. ~ the "heroes" in this documentary (white lady librarians, and the one white lady politician who used to be a nazi but now realizes that maybe nazis are bad so she's only kind of a nazi now) are morons. there is no reasoning with nazis. there is no talking to or bargaining with nazis. the only thing nazis understand is force. if you want to beat nazis, you need to either force them to stop (literally. you must STOP them.) or make them so viscerally afraid that they stop of their own accord and go the hell away like the cowards they are. ~ the documentary flips back and forth between clips of nazis and clips of our supposed heroes. it took me wayyy too long to be able to discern which side some of these clips were supposed to represent. not a good sign. ~ this documentary feels it's necessary to suggest that there are "good christians" or something. i want to make clear that in amerikkka, christianity and nazism are one and the same thing. there is no saving or redeeming christianity. christianity is the direct cause of more human suffering, more human oppression, more human death than any other concept or organization ever in history. (except that asteroid that took the dinosaurs out like four hundred and fifty years ago because the earth is only three thousand years old. god, christians are so dumb.) ~ christianity has ALWAYS had bigotry as well as a desire for domination, control, and genocide at its core. christians cannot save us from nazis because they don't understand that christianity is AT THE CORE of american nazism. (there are obviously individual exceptions, but i am talking at a systemic level, because that's what's important.) ~ take for example the (admittedly righteous) black pastor. he understands that the book bans are wrong. that's an important first step. however, what he misses is the thing that actually matters. he believes he can appeal to some type of fantasy that america is "moral". america has never been moral or righteous. america was founded on the literal continent-wide genocide of dozens of nations of indigenous people, and we have never even acknowledged that, let alone attempted to make amends for it. there is no redeeming christianity, and there is no redeeming amerikkka. both entities must be abolished so that something less hateful can rise from the ashes. ~ the number of people in this "documentary" (it's more like hilariously incompetent propaganda) who are appealing to national pride and morality is mind boggling. they are all entirely missing the point. i don't even care about having these people "on our side" because they are worse than useless. the white fuckery (mostly from the librarians) in this documentary is enraging. (i expect the white fuckery from the nazis, and thus don't find it enraging. i am not surprised when a nazi acts like a nazi.) ~ this "documentary" makes these librarians sound like brilliant investigative journalists or something for figuring out this is a coordinated political effort by the american nazi party. lol, the nazis are literally broadcasting loud and proud that they are doing this. ~ this documentary centers the struggles of a group of white women rather than the people in these communities and states who are actually oppressed. the documentary essentially does not comment on race at all, which is unacceptable. ~ trying to get republicans (nazis) to stop harming you by telling them that they're harming you is so hilariously dumb. they WANT to harm the people they are harming. they take joy in it. they rejoice in it. wake up. (i wanted to give this half a star, but decided to give it one star so this review could display next to the single other one-star review written by someone who is the kind of bigot who hides in plain sight by "just asking questions".)
