From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

i probably would not watch this again and don't see any reason to recommend it. that said, it has the most stellar first five minutes of any film i can recall. the rest of the first hour is impeccable. potentially five stars. quentin tarantino is an absolute piece of shit. in real life. and in the movie. what kind of person writes themself into a movie as a fucking rapist pedophile? plus all his classic racial slurs. absolutely disgusting human. despite these glaring personal flaws, this might be his third best script behind death proof and django. the first hour is robert rodriguez' best directing. gorgeous color and camera. great soundtrack. just nailing it. george clooney absolutely carries this film. delicious acting. i'm not sure who is hotter, him or salma hayek, please bring me both of them on a platter. after the first hour this takes a turn that i just was not interested in at all. looks like shit. is somehow boring despite nonstop action. loses the style and swagger of the first hour. couldn't even watch it on fast forward. throw away second half for me...and seeing as the first half doesn't stand on its own, i see no reason to watch any of this. the first half gave me really high hopes, so color me extremely disappointed.
