a review of 忧郁症

misogyny depression edition of don't look up. (or, don't look up is vapid capitalism bro edition of melancholia.) confusing lighting. utterly bizarre dialogue and plot. incredible performance by kirsten dunst. the blair witch handheld mode was not working for me at all. the shots that weren't shaky frantic handheld mostly were gorgeous. i think if i'd never seen nymphomaniac, lars von trier's five and a half hour rape fantasy about how much he hates women, i would have enjoyed this more, but once you've seen something like that, it can't be unseen.
