Fyre (2019)kind of just a shitty slow motion horror short story playing on loop about the evils that psychopathic, colonizer capitalists (or as they are sometimes called...capitalists) inflict upon all of the rest of us. the one douchebag white dude at the end had one of the only true statements about the whole thing. "if there's anything the guy's good at, it's separating consumers from their cash...and if there's anything this country celebrates more than that, i dunno." (guarantee this dude also makes his living doing something that causes significant harm to the world.) only one person in this whole film ever mentions they feel bad for the locals. these racist, colonizer pieces of shit just pulled up in the bahamas, did what they wanted with the place and the people who live there and just left. the locals deserve to be the focus of the story, not the rest of these psychopaths who are just here trying to clear their names and pretend like they had nothing to do with it. the problem is that when you work with a psychopath like billy, or when you hang out around psychopaths like billy, you know what you are doing. almost every single person in this who was not from the bahamas are all money grubbing, get rich quick con artists and they are just pissed that their ploy to ride on the coat tails of the con artist ring leader billy didn't turn out better for them. (the investors, the influencers, the fyre staff, the people who bought tickets...all of them are deeply fucked people who are ushering in the end of society.) this is capitalism in a nutshell. if you want to get ahead you have to be complicit. if you want to get ahead you have to step on necks and leave a trail of harm and destruction. sorry kids, them's the facts. if this documentary was a commentary on the evils of capitalism and the deep mental illness of all those who believe in it, it could have been interesting, but instead it's just giving a microphone to a bunch of racist, capitalist fucks to keep spewing their bullshit. (don't get me wrong, it's fascinating at times (the story, not the documentary)...but also completely vile and disgusting.)
