took wayyy too long to cut away that parachute malfunction (imo). that one clip of the malfunction told me a lot about this guy's decision making process and appetite for unnecessary risk. this documentary is fine. however it lacks wayyy too much nuance and context about the dangers of the sport. seems like it was made without much input from any wingsuit base jumpers. yes, the sport is dangerous. very, very dangerous. and also, johnny was engaging with the sport in an especially reckless way. also, kinda flippant handling of the relationship between addiction and risk taking. sure, let's interview a bunch of people who don't have a specific addiction about what that addiction is like. very sloppy way to convey that information, and i don't think it's fair to johnny (even if some of it rang true). it's kinda sad this wasn't more interesting because there are several very interesting stories here to tell.
