sorry film snobs and social justice warriors. this rules. yes, frank herbert is a steaming pile of shit. yes, this is an incredibly hard world to adapt to film. yes, this is nearly perfect pacing for such an epic, detailed world. yes, timmy chalamet is a lil bitch ass. yes, he also kinda rules this role. yes, feyd rautha is unreal, depraved, haunting. (i'm personally obsessed with the shift from...whatever the harkonnen losers are up to in the book...and turning them into sociopathic cannibals. truly brilliant. so tasteful.) yes, epic fight scene near the end. yes, the score is kinda absolutely bonkers and immersive. yes, this is better on imax (duh). yes, the overall aesthetics are incredible. yes, this is imperfect. yes, the novel dune is problematic in several ways. yes, it is still one of the greatest sci-fi epics we have. yes, this is by far the best film version yet.
